I recently asked a group of Children’s Ministers what they do to make Back to School intentional for their families & children. Here are responses I received:
“We have a Back to School Prayer night. Ours will be on the 17th. It is a devotional style assembly with prayers focused on Elementary, Jr. High, High school, and University students and a prayer for admin and teachers and parents. I have a brochure for elementary families on how to have a successful school year. We’ve done this for many years. Sometimes we have each prayer group stand and have others surround them as they are prayed for. We also have a Welcome Back Wednesday dinner for college students. We are next to LCU and we have Tech, and another college in town.” – CourtniAnne M.
“We walk our families through how to host their own Back to School Feast. Families pray about and pick a faith based theme for the year and reveal that theme to their family at their feast! In our family, we pray over our kids, bless them, and fill them with truth, love, and encouragement before they return to school. Its one of our family’s favorite nights of the year!” – Leslie B.
